Welcome to my blog page.
This week I have had several clients come in for low back pain.
Several of these clients had done some damage to their backs by pulling, lifting and stretching
activities. The golfer who doesn't warm up ahead of the game. The builder/workman who is
lifting heavy objects, then in the same motion, twists his body to reposition the load pulling muscles in
his lower back. The guy who, sitting at his computer, has the computer on the cocktail table, or his lap,
causing excess strain on the muscles that have to hold his shoulders and head at an angle.
It is important to be aware of the muscles and our posture as we go about our day. Now that the weather
is getting nicer, we want to get out and ride our bikes, play at sports, wash our cars...whatever...
prepare youself. stretch or warm up first. Think before you lift and twist. Lift with your legs when
possible. When at the computer, sit with the monitor directly ahead of you, not at an angle. Make
sure the keyboard is at a comfortable height and watch that your shoulders and head are not pulled
forward. Thank you and good luck!
